For fans anticipating a variety of X-Men cameo appearances in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine film, it seems the Juggernaut character will regrettably not make the cut.
Audiences who have followed the X-Men cinematic journey will recall the fleeting and rather perplexing portrayal of Juggernaut in X-Men: The Last Stand, the third installment released by 20th Century Fox. In this adaptation, actor Vinnie Jones brought to life the iconic Marvel antagonist, traditionally envisioned as a colossal figure donned in bright red armor.
Instead, Jones’ interpretation of Juggernaut was quite an unconventional one, sporting a helmet that appeared to be carved from stone and exchanging the iconic red armor for a brown leather harness, complete with a midriff-revealing design that showcased veiny biceps and a hairy abdomen.
For those who might not recall his distinct look, here’s a vivid reminder. Yet, for anyone who has seen this version of Juggernaut, it’s likely an unforgettable sight. And for those who haven’t had the opportunity to watch X-Men: The Last Stand, we offer you a visual.
While Marvel has yet to make an official statement, circulating reports suggest that we may see other familiar characters in the upcoming feature, including Jennifer Garner’s Elektra from the Fox Daredevil and Elektra adaptations. There’s also buzz that Aaron Stanford, known for his role as Pyro in both X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand, may make an appearance.
The anticipated release date for Deadpool & Wolverine is set for July 26 in theaters.
