The upcoming animated show X-Men ’97, slated for release on Disney+ shortly, isn’t merely a nod to the beloved ’90s animated series—it’s an actual sequel. Notably, it includes several original voice actors.
Production guidance for X-Men ’97 is provided by Larry Houston, who was an integral part of the original X-Men: The Animated Series. Audiences will delight in hearing familiar voices such as George Buza as Beast, Lenore Zann as Rogue, and Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, among others. Marvel has released a new video saying that the show is not just influenced by the ’90s version; it picks up right where the original left off.
The featured video gives a preview of the series, complete with insights from the returning talent. Viewers will be plunged into a storyline where Magneto attempts to continue Professor Xavier’s legacy by taking over his school. This development follows Professor Xavier’s demise in the finale of the ’90s X-Men series, which was itself influenced by Uncanny X-Men #200.
