Following an unforeseen trailer leak, PlayStation and Naughty Dog have unveiled the official launch date for The Last of Us Part 2: Enhanced Edition. Gamers can mark their calendars for the highly anticipated release on PlayStation 5 come Friday, January 19, 2024. Desktop gamers will need to be patient yet again, as there’s currently no word on when this upgraded gem might find its way to PC. However, given Naughty Dog’s history, it’s probably safe to harbor hopes for an eventual PC debut down the line.

Many may question the value in repurchasing a game they’ve already played, especially when the narrative and characters remain the same. Nevertheless, Naughty Dog promises that this refreshed installment will not be lacking in new material. Excitement is particularly buzzing around the introduction of an innovative roguelike mode titled No Return, which wasn’t available in the initial offering.

For those concerned about cost, the updated version comes with good news: owners of the PlayStation 4 version of The Last of Us Part 2 can snag the remastered edition at the steal of an upgrade fee of just $10. Plus, your saved progress from the PS4 game can be transferred over, although you’ll probably want to immerse yourself in the revamped storyline afresh.

The freshly released trailer for The Last of Us Part 2: Enhanced Edition didn’t skimp on the details, highlighting additional content fans can eagerly anticipate. This includes fresh wardrobe choices for protagonists Ellie and Abby, as well as the chance to delve into previously unseen environments in the Lost Levels. These enhancements are set to make your journey through the game’s profoundly emotional tale even more riveting.

As the release looms on the horizon, all that remains is the count down to the day you can delve back into the dystopian world of The Last of Us Part 2.
