Netflix has just dropped the inaugural teaser for ‘Wednesday’ – giving audiences their first detailed glimpse at the new series that follows Wednesday Addams, the iconic character from the Addams Family, with a comedic horror twist.

Helmed by Tim Burton, the newly-released teaser, lasting 2 minutes, exudes the director’s signature mix of creepiness and wit that fans recognize from classics like Beetlejuice and Nightmare Before Christmas. The show, which spans 8 episodes, is scheduled to arrive on Netflix this upcoming autumn.

‘Wednesday’ unfolds as a quirky, supernatural coming-of-age tale that sees Wednesday Addams navigate life at Nevermore Academy. There, she aims to hone her psychic abilities, halt a horrifying sequence of murders in the local community, and unravel a mystical puzzle that has entangled her family for a quarter of a century.

Adding to the preview buzz, Variety has recently treated fans to a first look at the entire Addams Family depicted in their characteristic somber splendor.

Jenna Ortega steps into the role of Wednesday Addams, with Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, and Isaac Ordonez taking on Pugsley Addams. The ensemble also includes Riki Lindholme, Jamie McShane, Hunter Doohan, Gwendoline Christie, Georgie Farmer, and various other talents.

Stepping into nostalgia, Christina Ricci, the cherished Wednesday from the 1990s’ Addams Family films, has been confirmed to appear in the series. Her role remains shrouded in mystery, leaving fans curious about her integration into the story.

While ‘Wednesday’ marks the television directorial debut for Tim Burton, the show is steered by co-showrunners Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, who also join Burton as executive producers.

Anticipation builds as ‘Wednesday’ is set to make its premiere late in 2022, comprising a total of eight episodes. Production got underway last September in Bucharest, Romania, wrapping up on March 30 this year.
