A central figure since Tekken 3, Jin Kazama returns as one of the prominent faces of the franchise. Sporting mastery over his devil gene as evidenced in his rage art, Jin’s narrative in Tekken 8 is anticipated to revolve around his determination to defeat his father Kazuya and annihilate the devil gene once and for all.

Kazuya Mishima

With Heihachi no longer in his way, Kazuya is set to employ his might and his dominant position at G Corp to achieve global domination. Having triumphed over the Mishima Zaibatsu, Kazuya seems on track to realize his ambitions, unless Jin can thwart him.

Paul Phoenix

It’s notable that Paul once drew with Kazuya in combat, but his reputation has since become comedic in recent iterations. With Heihachi’s reported demise, Paul found himself impoverished without tournament winnings. The forthcoming eighth tournament provides him with another shot at glory and financial reward.

Marshall Law

After his son’s costly motorcycle accident, Law found himself drowning in debt, leading to neglect of his dojo and eventual loss of ownership due to collateral. Like Paul, Law seems cursed with financial misfortune and is expected to join the eighth King of Iron Fist Tournament in hopes of monetary recovery.

King

Stepping into the legacy of his predecessor, this luchador does not only fight for sport but also for the children of the orphanage where he was raised. With increased needs due to the Mishima Zaibatsu-G Corp conflict, King is motivated to win the tournament for charitable reasons.

Lars Alexandersson

Lars, a former Tekken Force officer and Heihachi Mishima’s illegitimate son, rebelled to form Yggdrasil, aligning efforts with Jin to oppose Kazuya and G Corp.

Nina Williams

Beyond being a skilled assassin, Nina once commanded the Tekken Force. After leaving due to a mission failure, she returned to assassination before being hired by Kazuya as a high-level commander for G Corp.

Jack-8

The most advanced model from G Corp’s line of humanoid weapons, Jack-8 was developed by Jane, who dedicated her life to perfect this series after being saved by a Jack. This new model boasts significantly enhanced AI capabilities.

Jun Kazama

Long presumed deceased since Tekken 3, Jun, the mother of Jin Kazama, reappears…“`html

Previously having been a part of the Tekken universe solely in Tekken 2 and Tekken 3, her reappearance in Tekken 8 took many by surprise. Players are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to engage with her character once more, now reimagined within the contemporary game environment.

Ling Xiaoyu

Embarking on a global quest fuelled by her feelings for Jin, Ling Xiaoyu is on a relentless search for him. Her journey includes a secretive mission within Mishima Zaibatsu to unearth any information about Jin. Resolute and patient, she refuses to give up her search, irrespective of the time it may take.

Leroy Smith

Hailing from New York, the Wing Chun expert Leroy Smith is celebrated for his pivotal role in liberating the city from the clutches of criminal gangs. Discovering that the Mishima Zaibatsu and G Corp were behind the city’s turmoil, he joins the fray of the seventh King of Iron Fist Tournament. With G Corp reigning over the world, Leroy’s resolve hardens to confront and defeat its chief, Kazuya.

Asuka Kazama

Boasting proficiency in the Kazama-style martial arts from a young age, Asuka, Jin’s cousin, has earned a distinguished reputation. Following her victory over Lili in The King of Iron Fist Tournament, Lili becomes enthralled by Asuka, persistently shadowing her and even acquiring her dojo.

Lili

Despite her affluent origins as the heiress to a Monaco oil tycoon, Emilie de Rochefort, or Lili, is a skilled combatant with a penchant for facing formidable adversaries, much to her father’s ignorance. After suffering defeat by Asuka twice in the Tournament, Lili’s intrigue towards her rival deepens.

Hwoarang

Renowned for his Taekwondo mastery, Hwoarang’s rivalry with Jin can be traced back to their unresolved battle at the third King of Iron Fist Tournament. Upon defeat of Jin in the Middle East and Jin’s subsequent disappearance, Hwoarang heads back home to hone his skills, awaiting the rematch with Jin.

Bryan Fury

Bryan Fury’s reputation precedes him as a cyborg with a penchant for destruction. His perpetual generator malfunctions, granting him unexpected power surges. Wanted globally for his violent behavior, he is a prime target for capture by international agencies.

Claudio Serafino

As the leader of the exorcist group Sirius Marksmen, Claudio initially allies with Heihachi, aiming to purge the devil gene from Jin and Kazuya. Upon discovering Xiaoyu’s quest for Jin, Claudio plots to align with her, seeking the ultimate goal of vanquishing Jin.

Raven

An adept ninjutsu master and a covert operative, Raven worked tirelessly to preemptively thwart conflicts. When his efforts fail to end the strife between Mishima Zaibatsu and G Corp, he seeks further refinement of his abilities from his ninjutsu teacher, gearing up for the eighth King of Iron Fist Tournament. Azucena Castillo

A newcomer to the Tekken scene, Azucena Castillo is a decorated MMA combatant who simultaneously manages a love for creating exquisite coffee blends. Known for her award-winning coffee variety grown on the family-owned Ortiz Farm, she fights across the globe to market her coffee brand, setting her sights on The King of Iron Fist Tournament as her latest battleground. Dive deeper into her backstory and fighting style in our dedicated Tekken 8 Azucena character guide.

Kuma

Kuma, the bear known for his iconic red headband and stoic demeanor, stands vigil for Heihachi Mishima’s return. His sheer size and power might be intimidating, yet he is known for his warm heart and commitment to community service, particularly within Southeast Asian communities where his volunteer efforts are celebrated.

How many characters are in Tekken 8?

Tekken 8 will feature a lineup of 32 characters at its debut. This was confirmed by Bandai Namco at Gamescom Opening Night Live when they announced the initial roster for the upcoming game. Despite being fewer than the 50 characters in Tekken 7, the developers traditionally expand the roster post-launch with additional DLC fighters, which is anticipated to occur once again.

With eight slots yet to be announced, speculation abounds regarding which beloved characters will make a return, with names like Craig Marduk and Armor King notable by their absence. One major question mark hangs over Heihachi Mishima, whose fate was left uncertain following the narrative of Tekken 7, leaving fans to wonder if he will be resurrected in some form.

The addition of Tekken 8’s new Heat system is generating buzz among players who are keen to test out the characters within this novel combat paradigm. This innovative mechanic encourages aggressive gameplay, promising to inject thrilling dynamism into player confrontations.
