According to Patton Oswalt, it looks like the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Eternals is poised for a sequel. Yes, you’ve read that right—a potential Eternals 2 is on the horizon.

Oswalt, who portrayed the role of Pip in the end-credits scene of Eternals, alongside Harry Styles as Starfox/Eros (Thanos’ sibling), spilled the beans during an appearance on The Today Show about a possible follow-up to the original movie, suggesting that Chloe Zhao may be returning to helm the sequel.

“In our little cameo at the end of Eternals, I took on the role of Pip the Troll, and Harry Styles played Starfox, Thanos’ brother,” Oswalt remarked. He then dropped a significant hint, stating, “It’s been made public that there’s an Eternals sequel in the pipeline. Chloé Zhao is set to direct it. So, with any luck, we’ll be seeing more escapades involving Starfox and Pip.”

Anticipation Grows for ‘Eternals 2’

Oswalt might have jumped the gun with his revelation, as neither Disney nor Zhao have made any official announcements regarding an Eternals 2. Although recent disclosures of Marvel’s Phase 5 and Phase 6 slate didn’t list an Eternals sequel, it could indicate a release set for the distant future—maybe Phase 7? Really, what do these Phase delineations signify nowadays?

Nonetheless, the prospect of an Eternals sequel is on the table. Despite mixed critical reception, the original movie had a strong showing at the box office. Marvel Studios is known for its expansive sagas, rarely stopping after just one film.

Marvel’s Kevin Feige has previously noted the diversity of their lineup, stating “we’ve got Blade, supernatural elements with Doctor Strange, the street-level action with Daredevil and Spider-Man, and the cosmic domain. That’s where our pals Eros and Pip hang out.”
