Insider Scoops on Xbox Games Summer Showcase 2024

Trusted industry insider Jeff Grubb reports that the showcase will last around two hours and feature around 30 games. We’ll see a mix of familiar titles as well as some intriguing new reveals.

The headline scoop is the potential unveiling of a fresh Gears of War title, as indicated in a report by The Verge related to Black Ops 6 coming to Xbox Game Pass. Though official confirmation is awaited, there’s hopeful anticipation for this new chapter in the Gears saga.

Furthermore, Jeff Grubb hinted in a conversation with Kinda Funny that while Dragon Age Dreadwolf might not appear, we can still expect some news on the Dragon Age series. This discussion was circulated by user ScottyKNJ on the gaming leaks and rumors subreddit. It’s been confirmed that Dragon Age Dreadwolf is now named The Veilguard, and it seems like we will indeed get a glimpse of Dragon Age 4 at the showcase.

Speculation also suggests other Xbox titles might head to the PS5. Renowned leaker NateDrake shared on ResetEra that while Starfield might release on PS5 in 2025, they also heard about other potential Xbox to PS5 titles for the holiday season. No specific names were dropped, however.

Without confirming, The Verge’s Tom Warren reported that there’s consideration within Microsoft to port the Halo series to PlayStation platforms. Post the success of Sea of Thieves on multiple platforms, it would not be surprising to see more exclusives make the leap to PlayStation.

Finally, The Verge hints that we can expect official release dates for Avowed, Indiana Jones, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 to be announced.

Regarding Call of Duty Black Ops 6, rumors suggest a release in late October along with early access perks for pre-orders. Alleged leaks insinuate the campaign will rival Far Cry in terms of an open-world experience.
